Soundtrack for Life was originally designed by Gerry as an easily accessible therapy for young people who would find it difficult to engage in traditional therapeutic approaches. It has since proved itself to have a much broader appeal with people of all ages making use of the library.
Gerry trained as a Solution Focused Brief Therapist (SFBT) and Clinical Hypnotherapist in 2008/9 under David Newton at the Clifton Practice in Bristol. He has run therapy practices in Exeter and Mid Devon for over 10 years.
In May 2018 he joined South West Mental Health Ltd. (now 1848 Ltd.) a residential care provider for children and young people in the south west of England. Here he helped to set up their innovative in-house well-being department providing therapeutic support for both the amazing young people and the equally amazing staff teams that support them.
During his time with 1848, Gerry used a number of creative approaches with the young people he was working with including creating unique positive relaxation tracks, which he called 'soundtracks for their lives'. Gerry also made unique soundtracks for members of the staff team.
In October 2020 with the pandemic making face to face therapy difficult, Gerry left the Company and set to work on developing his Soundtrack for Life idea as a free mental well-being resource for all. Gerry now splits his time between creating new tracks for the site (and clients) and continuing to work with young people in his part-time role with Action for Children.
In addition to his background in SFBT and Clinical Hypnotherapy, Gerry has practiced meditation for over 35 years and is passionate about promoting its many benefits.
Gerry plans to continue developing the free Soundtrack library and will focus his therapy work on creating unique soundtracks for clients.
